Hi,
I wanted to share with you a bit about why we created our summertime reading program.
For me, it was because of my students.
Throughout the years of mentor in my personal learning center, moms and dads would bring their children to me that were behind in reading and spelling.

In some cases they were simply a bit behind, in some cases they were way behind, and often they were at grade level and just wished to progress faster.
Sometimes this was since the students had learning troubles like dyslexia and ADHD. Other times, this was merely due to the fact that the teachers did not teach all of the specific abilities needed to check out.
There is a science-proven, step-by-step way that all children can be successful with reading. Unfortunately, instructors themselves often are not taught how to teach kids in this method.

The problem was that I was just able to see them for an hour at a time and only two times a week.

How could I get these trainees' skills up while not just supplying a band-aid service?
Traditional tutors typically just deal with homework. Unfortunately, this does not resolve the source of students' problems and does not in fact get their abilities up.
So, I went to the research and what I gained from my coaches in my early years of mentor.
I discovered that brief activities typically produce much better outcomes than long labored work.
I found that mentor in a methodical and structured method to target each area of reading and spelling worked.

I discovered that brief daily fluency practice assists all students read much faster, more properly, and inherently enhances their understanding abilities.
I found that using graphic organizers helps trainees find the essence and details, series events, and organize their thoughts to enhance their comprehension. Students might finally understand and imagine what they check out.
I discovered that most words in English follow 8 specific spelling patterns and when you learn the patterns, spelling becomes easier and spelling lastly makes good sense.
I discovered that brain-body activities improve neuroplasticity and equate to making discovering easier in all areas.
I found that executive function skills were frequently not taught in school. These skills are so important, not just with planning for school projects however in life.

I discovered that mentor through our senses (hearing, seeing, and doing) improved their reading and spelling skills quicker. It did not matter if they had discovering difficulties or if they were just merely aiming to advance much faster.
I create a program of these findings into short 5-20 minute everyday activities that I might do with my students.
It wasn't long before my trainees and parents started seeing incredible outcomes. Trainees that were behind by 1-2 years often got up to grade level in 2-4 months.
Educators began to ask what I was making with these kids. Parents needed to know what the magic sauce was.
I knew I had to make my program offered to more students no matter where they live. I needed to make the program in a manner that moms and dads can do it with their kids on their schedule in the house.
This is why I established the summertime reading program.
